The planning meeting for the 2006 ECCC Road Season will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2005 beginning at 11:00AM. The United States Military Academy at West Point will be the gracious host (directions below).
The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

2005 MTB Season Review
The USA Cycling NORBA Eastern Regional Director, Kelli Lusk, will be attending the meeting. We will be making a significant investment in the 2006 MTB Season, and we need your input into the process. Race promoters and MTB competitors are strongly encouraged to attend!

2006 Road Season Schedule & Planning
The 2006 road schedule is going to be very tight as usual. There are only four weekends in March and only five weekends in April. I have heard from the following schools: Rutgers, UPenn, Drexel, Army, Beanpot, Mercyhurst, Williams, UVM, Dartmouth, Slippery Rock, UMass, Mt. Holyoke, Cornell, Bucknell, UNH, Penn State, Columbia. If you are considering hosting an event and aren't on that list, please email me at mark /at/ eccc-info.com.

As you can see, there are more schools that want to host than available weekends. I can say with absolute confidence that schools who arrive more prepared to the meeting will be given strong priority. Courses, school/town/police approvals, schedules, safety/medical plans will all be scrutinized to ensure that the ECCC continues to be known for safe, fun, and competitive events.  Please note that 2005 saw incredible field sizes. You MUST have a plan to deal with large fields, notably splitting the D and C races into Division 1 and Division 2.

Discussion of ECCC Guidelines and Rules
If there is something in particular (rule, guideline, discussion item) that you would like added to the agenda, please email me at mark /at/ eccc-info.com and I'll add it to the list. The ECCC has always been a leader in proactively adjusting its rules to improve competition and be more consistent. Current agenda includes discussion of:

WOW! Amazing New Changes to Collegiate Cycling
That's right, even more cool stuff for 2006 including an actual printed Collegiate Cycling license card, National Director of Collegiate Cycling position, the 2006 MTB Nationals Host Announcement, and a whole lot more.

Winter Training Camp w/ WCCC
California. January. Discovery Channel pro coaches. What more do you need to know?

Directions to West Point:
From the North (on I-87 South), West (on I-84 East), or East (on I-84 West): From the North, exit off I-87 South to I-84 East towards CT. After only a few short miles, exit off I-84 to Route 9W at Newburgh, NY.

From the West, exit off I-84 East to Route 9W at Newburgh, NY.

From the East, after crossing the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, exit off I-84 West to Route 9W at Newburgh, NY.

ALL, follow Route 9W South through Newburgh and over Storm King Mountain. After coming down the south side of the mountain, you will be faced with 3 right side exits for West Point. Take the third exit which will take you through the town of Highland Falls, past the West Point museum, and finally to Thayer Gate. Once you go through the security stops, continue on Thayer Road until you go under a large building. After a slight uphill, there will be a crosswalk. Thayer Hall is on the right and the library is on the left. Make a right just after the crosswalk and park on top of the building.

The meeting is in Thayer Hall room 144 which is on the bottom floor.
From the South (on I-287 / I-87 North): Exit off I-87 North (NY Thruway) to Route 6 East before the main stream toll booths. You'll pass through your own toll booths (50 cents) after exiting, so don't be alarmed that it appears as though your are bypassing the main toll booths on the highway. After the toll booth, get in the right lane to exit the freeway. At the traffic light, turn left and proceed on Highway 17 for two more lights. Make the next left onto Route 6 East. You'll see West Point signs along the way also. Once on Route 6 East, you'll travel about 3 miles uphill until the two lanes merge into one. Shortly thereafter, you'll bear left off of Route 6 East for Route 293 (look for the West Point sign - this is easy to miss). Proceed on Route 293 (our team time trial course) continuing past Camp Buckner (with a flashing yellow light) to the end of Route 293. Follow signs for 9W south which will require you to make a right turn. After this turn, you will take the second exit off of 9W South which will take you through the town of Highland Falls, past the West Point museum, and finally to Thayer Gate.

Its going to be Thayer Hall, Room 144. Once inside, go right and take the first staircase down 3 floors. Take a left out of the stairwell and go down to the end of the hall to an auditorium. No drinks and food inside the auditorium, but we can have it in the hall outside.
